Casinos have long been architectural marvels. Boasting intricate designs and luxurious aesthetics, these grandiose edifices not only attract punters but also inspire and engage their imaginations.
Some casinos take it one step further by adopting specific themes. Atlantis Resort takes inspiration from Plato’s Atlantis story with Mayan temples, seahorse sculptures, nautilus shells and marlin statues all providing the backdrop.
The Bellagio
Bellagio draws its name from a town on Lake Como of the same name and offers European grandeur with contemporary luxury. A conservatory, twelve-acre lake and gallery of fine art add an additional flourish of beauty at this hotel and casino resort.
The Fountains of Bellagio by WET Design embody its romantic ambience, as they feature water that dances along to music for an unforgettable experience for guests and visitors alike.
Bellagio boasts many distinct features, such as its botanical garden and conservatory with fresh displays from a 90,000-square-foot greenhouse. At its Bellagio Theatre lies Cirque du Soleil’s aquatic spectacular “O,” featuring synchronized swimmers, divers, acrobats, aerialists and aerialists performing spectacular displays of aquatic feats.
The Bellagio’s iconic poker room offers a diverse range of high-stakes games. It is widely renowned for hosting celebrity players such as Doyle Brunson, who won both World Series of Poker Main Event titles twice. Furthermore, one of only few casinos with a helicopter pad, it serves as a stopover point for celebrities attending shows at Caesars Palace, Forum Shops or Venetian.
Marina Bay Sands
The Marina Bay Sands Casino is one of the world’s most striking structures. Comprised of three towers connected by an overhead platform housing its casino, and boasting one of the world’s largest rooftop pools with spectacular views of Singapore – it has become an internationally acclaimed symbol of luxury and extravagance, drawing in visitors from all over.
Marina Bay Sands stands out with its breathtaking architecture, but also offers world-class dining, entertainment and shopping. Home to luxury brands such as Ralph Lauren, Cartier, Chanel and Hermes; its hotel boasts an extensive array of restaurants and bars as well.
The Marina Bay Sands is an absolute must for anyone in search of an incredible experience. Be it for just the weekend or planning a luxurious trip, the iconic casino promises to deliver. Enjoy shopping sprees at The Shoppes, cocktails at MARQUEE nightclub or take in breathtaking Spectra nightly light and water show; your visit won’t soon be forgotten!
Caesars Palace
Caesars Palace pioneered a paradigm shift, elevating casinos beyond mere gambling houses and shifting perceptions of Las Vegas from being seen solely as a desert town for mobster types and gamblers to become an attractive vacation spot for all Americans.
Kirk Kerkorian used this property in the 1960s to experiment with themed casino design and architecture. Sarno engaged architect Melvin Grossman to construct a 14-story 680-room hotel resembling a Roman palace, featuring five sixty-foot fountains in front, replica statues of Medici Venus, Canova David, Winged Victory of Samothrace as well as Italian Cyprus trees in its parking lot.
Caesars Palace Casino was the pioneer full-range casino to provide high-end restaurants, nightclubs, shopping malls and thousands of rooms – the epitome of modern marketing theories moving away from mass production toward more targeted approaches and targeted strategies aimed at high-end customers and segmentation.
Stratosphere
The Stratosphere stands as one of the landmarks in architecture, serving as the second tallest observation tower in western hemisphere and housing hotel, casino and entertainment offerings in Sin City. At 1,149-feet in height it is also the largest freestanding structure in America; famous for its breathtaking views and thrill rides it stands as an architectural icon that defines architecture today.
The stratosphere is a layer of Earth’s atmosphere located above the troposphere and below the mesosphere, and is characterized by an increasing temperature profile with altitude as temperatures absorb ultraviolet radiation from the Sun through absorption by an ozone layer that absorbs and scatters it away.
The ozone layer acts as a shield against cosmic rays that would otherwise damage our environment on Earth. Unfortunately, however, its fragile composition makes any disruption likely to lead to widespread smog and air pollution; sources that damage this barrier include car exhaust and industrial pollutants as well as solar activity.
